The Brewery

Image
The Brewery in Rouse Hill, also pronounced as  ' b oo ·e ·ree ' is  commonly known as Hillside's slightly more incest Westie cousin.  It's located just about as West as the North-West goes.  Is it worth the trek you may ask? Probably not. Alas if 18 year old caucasian's boys clad in Stussy are your kinda thing then you've come to the right place. See below pics from their latest album upload- and this is only the beginning.   Anyways if you're after cheap drinks, Timmy Trumpet blaring from the speakers and Sydney's finest specimens then give The Brewery a visit.  ✦Just don't forget to leave your dignity at the door✦ Handy tip - Do not Yaw here under any circumstances

Hillside

Not gonna lie, my now 18-year-old cousin froths over this god-forsaken place. For what reason? I have no idea. The mating grounds of all of north-west Sydney's fresh out-of-school youths. This place has not once failed (in my 4 adult years) to be a high school reunion every Friday night. I imagine the most popular drink here would be a vodka raspberry. I actively avoid the place for this reason. On a positive note, showy maccas is located just across the road. God bless showy maccas, god bless.

World Bar

Image
The suburban, 18-year-old's rite of passage would not be complete without: a teapot in their mouth a cheeky cig  an overcrowded boogie next to a group of sweaty, freshy caucasian men  seeing their local drug dealer on a Wednesday night and maybe accidentally hooking up with their third cousin  Welcome to World Bar - a place of teacups, tragedy and endless streams of snapchats of people showing off their outfits from general pants with the caption "it's Wednesday my dudes" (see below). An accurate depiction of the youth/s It has since closed down due to shitty sales from the implementation of lockout laws (god i love the nanny state).  Thank you for your service, World Bar. You will not be missed.

Chinese Laundry

Image
Chinese Laundry aka your favourite munt den(Sorry Candy's) is the place to be when your 10 caps deep and love the smell of sweat and lack of air circulation. Just a 10 minute stroll from Town Hall Station, entry cost can vary greatly depending on whether a big artist is headlining. If you love low ceilings, dark crowded places and sausage fests of men chanting 'woop woop' in a circle then I can't recommend a better place!

Pontoon Bar

Image
Pontoon Bar is one of the many bars scattered around Darling Harbour. The closest train station is Town Hall or Wynyard, approx. a 10 min walk down to the Harbour.  The great thing about Pontoon is that it's one of those venues that are always bustling. Despite the long lines, the waiting time is surprisingly is never very long. RnB/hip hop is the main genre played here, expect to hear a mix old school classics and newer tunes. Drink prices are standard, not as cheap as Star Bar but not a small fortune like Ivy. 2019 update: I take it back, pontoon is horrible do not go there . I am no longer 18 and no longer think this place is cool.

Pacha Sydney at the Ivy

Image
Known as one of the best spots for clubbing in Sydney, Ivy certainly did not disappoint.  It's conveniently located directly across from Wynyard station and also around a 10 minute walk from Town Hall. If it wasn't for the blaring music and lights it could easily be mistaken on the outside for any other office building. Entrance is through a large alley and the queue usually stretches around the complex, however there are separate lines for people paying with cash, card and for those who bought a ticket online, we bought a ticket online beforehand so it only took 20 mins to get in. Ivy is massive inside, its a multi room club which is great for when you get sick of a particular room. There's the Main room up a massive flight of stairs which is no easy feat in high heels, this room is the biggest there with an open roof so smoking is allowed and there's a large bar to the left- this particular bar doesn't sell spirits, beers and wines only here. I'

scary canary

Scary Canary is located near Town Hall Station and is only a couple of minutes walk. So transport to and from the place is fab. 469 Kent Street, Sydney When we went to the club, it took around an hour to get in, the line was pretty long however we made a couple of friends whilst waiting. Scary Canary is about the size of the R&B room at Ivy, and for those who haven't been to Ivy, it's a very intimate space with one bar and a not-so-spacey raised area for dancing and the DJ. The Scary Jar is pretty fkn cool, it's like a drink with 2 shots mixed with like this cool blue shit which tastes amazing. AAAND it's $10 which is pretty decent considering the price of drinks elsewhere. (idk about you) i guess that everyone's taste in music is different but i like a club with music that's dance-able and that people can sing along to - Scary Canary got that bit on point. There were mostly younger people around the 18-22 yr old mark. A lot of backpack
